If you'd like to save a little money and avoid buying actual "sticky notes" then you might want to check out a little piece of software called Sticky Notes 2.3. Now, this software will run on any Windows system (from 2000 to 7) and it's a VERY popular little widget.

The installation isn't even really an installation at all, because all you have to do is unzip the files, so that's a plus. And I know I go through a lot of Post-it notes myself, so it can be handy to have a digital option, especially if you're at your computer a lot. In fact, some of you might use the Windows version, called Notes, on your Sidebar. But with the Sidebar you're limited on where you can put your digital notes, and Sticky Notes has a lot more options.

Sure, you can do basic things like change the color of the note, just like you can do with Windows Notes, but you can even set a priority and an alarm for your Sticky Notes. Plus you can change the transparency, have the note hide itself when you mouse over it and even set it so that you can click through the note, as if it's not even there. And that's on top of the fact that you can put your Sticky Notes anywhere you want on your screen, and sort them or hide them for a specific amount of time.

So, in a nutshell, they've taken the basic sticky note and made it not so basic, unless of course you're talking about the looks of the widgets. They may not be as stylish as the Notes in a Sidebar, but at least you can move them around. And it's a free piece of software which could come in handy, if you leave a lot of notes for yourself. Now, you can pay to unlock all the options available for less than $5, which is around what you might pay for a nice stack of Post-it notes, but you can do plenty without paying a penny.

Plus if you get annoyed by them being on top of other things you're doing on your computer, you can hide them all with two clicks of your mouse. It might be great for things you don't want to forget, if you need a note right in your face whenever you sit down at your computer. But if you're working at your computer for a long time, you might not want them visible and you may forget to select "Show ALL Notes", before an important appointment. And that is where the alarms would come in handy, so that you never forget the important stuff.

I think it's a great option, especially if you don't use the Sidebar and you want to save a little money, but feel free to check it out yourself.
