My review:
Best software for reading and creating .iso files. I can’t imagine my computer without this software.
Daemon Tools Pro is a virtual drive that mounts image files. It is very useful for old software and games that require a CD to run. Instead of a Disc, Daemon mounts an image file - like an ISO file - eliminating the need to insert or switch disks during an install or retro–gaming session. Daemon Tools Pro is an upgrade from the most commonly used free version of the software. It offers compatibility with a few more image file types and tools - like the ability to convert from one image file type to another.
Installation is simple. The software is a small 19 MB download that comes with a free trial period. Just click through the simple provided installation wizard - no extra steps. Depending on what mirror it is downloaded with, you may be prompted to install other bundled software.
The user interface is fairly simple. Once Daemon is opened, the next step is to choose which of the two default virtual drives the image will be mounted to. Double-clicking the drive will open a browsing window that will allow the user to navigate to the image file. Once the image is mounted, most will automatically open a “CD” menu. From there, it is a simple matter of choosing to autoplay the file.
While older versions of the program opened directly into the system tray - which could be confusing - the interface in the newest version has solved that problem. The new look of
Daemon is simple with large self-explanatory icons. There is one user-friendly control panel, thumbnails of existing available virtual drives and a section that will collect recently used image files. This “Recently Used Images” section is a great addition. It spares the user the blood, sweat and tears of sifting through buried folder locations more than once to find frequently used image files.
Really Daemon tools pro has one main function - to mount image files and eliminate the use of CDs. But the opposite is true. Daemon Tools Pro can burn images to CD, as well. It also allows the user to edit image files and - as mentioned earlier - convert image files to a preferred file type.
Daemon tools pro is modestly priced shareware that can be picked up for around $17. However, Daemon Tools Lite - a free version of the software - can mount images and burn CDs for free. Although some file types may not be available in this version, it suffices for what the average user will need the program for. But there is no doubt that Daemon is the most recognizable name in image mounting and Daemon Tools Pro is a quality product.
Best software for reading and creating .iso files. I can’t imagine my computer without this software.
Very useful soft and also good alternative for Alcohol120% and other image emulators. Even Lite version is pretty good.
