My review:
I had always a lot of fun with that software. I always valued the extended control panel. I can easily recommend!
If you want to add a little something special to your webcam sessions then maybe you should check out CyberLink YouCam 5.0. This software will work on any Windows system, from XP to 7, and it allows you to not only manage your webcams but you can also add in cool effects, avatars and so on.
They have a pretty sleek-looking installation interface that oddly enough had to update itself before it could install the program. So, that was a bit of an unneeded step, but the installation process is somewhat quick, once it finishes the download for the new installation process. But, as you'll soon find out, you only have 15 days to test it out for free, after which you will be required to pay $35 for the full version.
And even though you're using the free trial, they still try to get you to register the software. That seems to me like they just want your information for marketing reasons, since you're not really a paying customer of theirs yet. But after skipping that step, and waiting a minute or so for it to open, you're presented with a pretty decent-looking interface.
They give you a lot of different backgrounds, effects, masks and other options to use. And their masks snap to your face pretty nicely, compared to other webcam software, and I like how it has a way to do screen captures, do PowerPoint presentations, use your webcam as a zooming mirror, use your face to login and use your webcam as a surveillance camera.
So, even if you're not that into special webcam effects, you might want to use it for surveillance or for screen captures and presentations. I mean, this squeezes a lot of different tasks into one piece of software, so I can see why they are charging for the full version. But if you just want special effects, then I'm sure your webcam came with plenty of them and this software won't interest you that much. On the other hand, if the extra options seem appealing to you, then it's probably worth getting the full version.
I had always a lot of fun with that software. I always valued the extended control panel. I can easily recommend!
YouCam is really good app that helps you to manage your webcam. All effects and addons are just brilliant.
Awesome program! All effects and bonuses are just brilliant and funny. I have so much fun with it, really.
CyberLink YouCam is a webcam software that offers dozens of different features and ways to get the most out of your webcam. CyberLink YouCam has undergone a thorough update with features that were never offered before in the older versions. It now includes funny avatars, interactive effects and gadgets, and Augmented Reality for your webcam. You’re also able to record, edit and enhance recorded HD Videos with the TrueTheater feature.
A definite plus is that you can download an infinite number of free effects from DirectorZone. The program itself is not free to download, though. The price normally runs around $34. A double bonus about this software is that it’s not only used for your webcam, but it can also be used as a video editor for the videos you have pre-recorded on your video camera. CyberLink YouCam also offers great ideas with 3D effects.
Downloading and installing can be tricky for this program. Before you even get to actually downloading the software, you get a message that in order to install CyberLink, you need to update it. So, you click to update and if you’re lucky, everything will go through just fine. Still, from my experience, installing the update has a high risk of crashing your Internet browser, as well as not really starting the download, which is quite frustrating. What is worse, CyberLink cannot be purchased in a box version, so you just need to brace yourself.
If you can get it successfully installed and started up, the rest should be easy to comprehend. CyberLink works with pretty much any type of a built-in or external webcam and microphones computers have. The interface is also pretty user-friendly as easy to figure out. On the main toolbar you have your options for taking a snap shot, video recording, YouTube posting, and of course the main functions kit. Once you have the functions open, the fun options will appear to the left of the webcam picture, while the captured and recorded videos will appear on the right.
It’s clear that CyberLink YouCam still has a lot of updating to do, but if you’re in the market for a new webcam software, you may be pleasantly surprised with this one in particular. This is definitely one of those programs that is either going to be a major hit, or an extreme miss, depending on the individual. Unfortunately for now, until more updates come up, it is probably just going to fall under the miss category.
