If you have a network of computers in your house or business then Advanced IP scanner might be worth checking out. This free software will work on any Windows system, from XP to 7, and it will find all the IP address for the computers in your network, shut them down or wake them up remotely and a lot more.
The installation process doesn't take too long and, when it opens, you are presented with a clean-cut looking interface. With a simple click of the "Scan" button it will find all your networked computers and devices. It lets you know the computer names, IP addresses, who manufactured the device, and even the MAC addresses.
I just did a scan and it pulled up two of our computers, our router, our printer and even my cell phone. You can then click the arrow beside some of the devices and see what networked folders are available, and double-click them to open them. I can see someone with a huge network of computers at an office really being able to take advantage of software like this, and keep tabs on every dark corner of their network.
Even the everyday user might benefit from having a quick way to locate their IP address, or know what devices are connected to their network at the moment. The software is really easy to use and it quickly gives you access to all your networked devices and folders, so I'd recommend you check out this software if you can think of a use for it. I mean, if you have a neighbor that's always accessing your wireless without your permission you could always shut down their computer remotely... or you could just password protect your WiFi and avoid an unneeded confrontation. But I'm sure anyone with a big business, full of computers, could definitely put this software to good use.
